FAQs
Got a question about sizing, materials, or delivery? You are in the right place. Below you will find quick answers to the things I am asked most, plus tips to help you choose and care for your piece. If you cannot find what you need, send a message and I will help.
How our jewellery is made
How are the pieces made?
Each piece is designed in the UK and finished by hand. Edges are smoothed for comfort, components are assembled with care, and every item is inspected before it leaves the studio.
Are items made to order or in small batches?
Handmade pieces are made to order to reduce waste. The stainless steel and gold vermeil pieces are produced in small batches, then hand finished and checked before shipping.
Do you personalise in house?
Yes. Initials are handstamped in our studio, making sure spacing and alignment feel balanced.
Can I have more than one initial or add a symbol?
Yes for most styles. If you are looking for a combination that isn't covered in the product listing, share what you have in mind and I will confirm layout and feasibility before you order.
Can I see a proof before you make it?
For simple initials I follow the house style for clarity and balance. If you need a proof, ask and I will advise the best approach.
can I add initials at a later date?
Absolutely! Depending on your piece you can either purchase an additional pendant, or we can add an initial to the larger pendants.
With our handcrafted heirloom pieces, before you purchase, we recommend choosing a size of pendant that will last. For example, if you’d like 2 initials now but would like 4 in the future, we recommend purchasing the larger size.
Materials and sourcing
What metals do you use?
We work with high quality metals chosen for everyday wear.
- Sterling silver 925, solid throughout, nickel safe
- Gold vermeil, thick 18k gold over sterling silver, minimum 2.5 microns.
- 316L stainless steel, hypoallergenic grade, highly resistant to tarnish.
- PVD coated stainless steel, colour bonded in a vacuum for long lasting finish.
Where are materials sourced from?
We partner with trusted suppliers who provide compliance statements. Orders are placed in small runs to minimise overproduction.
Do you use recycled metals?
Where possible, yes. Our handmade Solid Gold and Sterling Silver pieces are made from recycled grain sourced in the UK.
Are your products nickel safe?
Yes. Components meet EU REACH guidelines for nickel release, suitable for sensitive skin for most wearers.
Waterproof and durability
What makes the waterproof pieces waterproof?
PVD coating over stainless steel, colour is bonded in a vacuum chamber for a harder wearing finish than traditional plating.
Gold vermeil is water friendly within reason, avoid long soaks and chemicals.
Can I swim or shower in them?
Daily hand washing and the odd shower is fine for stainless steel and PVD finishes. For gold vermeil remove for swimming, hot tubs, saunas and perfumes to keep the surface looking its best.
Sterling Silver can react to chlorine and salt water so we recommend removing.
Will the colour fade?
Stainless steel, with PVD coating, is very durable. Vermeil can soften over time with friction and chemicals. Treat gently to extend wear.
What is PVD and how is it different from normal plating?
Physical Vapour Deposition bonds colour to metal in a vacuum. It creates a tougher surface than standard electroplating, with better resistance to sweat and water.
Allergies and sensitivities
Are the pieces hypoallergenic?
316L stainless steel and sterling silver are suitable for most people with sensitive skin. If you have a known allergy, check the product details or email before ordering.
Do you use lead or cadmium?
No. Components comply with EU safety standards.
Sizing and adjustments
How do I find my ring size at home?
Wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark the overlap, measure the length in millimetres for circumference, then use the conversion chart to find your size. If you have a ring that fits, measure the inside diameter and convert. You can read our guide here.
Do you offer resizing or chain length adjustments?
Often yes. Email with your order number and what you need, and I will confirm options and any cost.
Care
How should I care for my jewellery day to day?
Wipe with a soft cloth after wear, store dry and separate from other pieces. Avoid perfumes, lotions and household cleaners. Stainless steel is low maintenance, vermeil and plated finishes prefer gentler care. You can read all our care information here.
How do I clean it?
For stainless steel, wash with mild soap and water, then dry. For sterling silver, use a silver polish cloth. Avoid liquid cleaners on plated or vermeil pieces. You can read all our care information here.
Packaging and sustainability
What packaging do you use?
Our packaging is largely made from recycled materials. This includes our vegan suede pouches & tissue paper. Gift Wrapping can be added to your order and will include a branded grey gift bag and blank gift note card.
How do you reduce waste?
Made to order production, small batch restocks, and careful material planning. Faulty items are repaired where possible rather than discarded or used on displays
